BMI correlates with body fat. The relation between fatness and BMI differs with age and gender. For example, women are more likely to have a higher percent of body fat than men for the same BMI. On average, older people may have more body fat than younger adults with the same BMI.2

Tips from a Georgia Student in the medical/health field...


Control Cholesterol
Make a mix of 4 cups of apple juice, 3 cups of white grape juice and 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar. Drink 3/4 cup of mix every morning.

Basil Poultice
Add two level teaspoons of dried, ground basil to two cups of hot water. Allow to infuse for 15 minutes and strain. Add two tablespoons of cold witch hazel to strained water. Pop in the fridge. When required, soak two pieces of muslin in water and apply to forehead and back of neck.


Ginger and Chive Sinus Tea
Place three tablespoons finely chopped chives and one teaspoon of finely shredded ginger root in two cups of boiling water. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Strain and allow to cool as you would a cup of tea. Best if drank while lukewarm. Headaches caused by sinus congestion may find relief by using this tea regularly.


Cucumber Lip Softener
The skin of the cucumber contains fats and oil. Wash and dry cucumber. Pucker lips as if you are just about to apply lip balm or lipstick. Run the surface of the cucumber back and forth along the lips. You will be surprised at the difference.


Cold, Fever and Flu Toddy
Place three cups water, two small cinnamon sticks, couple of cloves in a saucepan, gently bring to boil, turn down heat, simmer for approximately five minutes. Remove from heat. Discard cinnamon sticks and cloves, add juice of half a lemon and 1 1/2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses and two capfuls of whisky. Mix thoroughly. Cover and allow ingredients to brew for at least 20. Decant into clean bottle or jam jar. Take 1/2 cup every four hours (makes 500mls).
